This is my advocacy for giving back to my fellow mom's who is in autism journey.
I remember when my son got diagnosed and clueless as to what autism is since no one in the family had it.
Basics seemed too complex when you are alone in this journey but it should not be too complicated. Life might have turned 180 degrees but you only need practical approaches to celebrate daily triumphs.
After 7 years from my son’s diagnosis, I learned, embraced, ate and lived autism non-stop, no pause, no break as it has been a way of life.
Sometimes, you may feel restless but keep that adrenalin, you are definitely moving forward better each day.
It's difficult to juggle between life and work plus autism but everything seems light with a home built with love, compassion and teamwork.
I still get to smell flowers.
I see kids of his age how they talk, play and effortlessly enjoy being kids. My heart grieves somehow out of fear that he falls far behind no matter how much therapies, routines, practice, love, patience and hope — still not good enough.
It’s because we are doing “extraordinary parenting” for our kids to support his emotion and sensory needs, to develop his cognition and be conversational, to build skills and discover talent. We keep going by our continuous research and constant prayers.
Even if we feel like the progress is too slow, our kids are not falling behind. They have their own time, way, and pace of growing. And every baby step – even tiny — is still a victory worth celebrating.
We will stand for them so we can find their niche where they can truly shine in their unique way.
